Estuary Birds

The upper reaches of the estuary provides extensive feeding grounds for a variety of birds over the tidal mud flats. Species usually visiable include Redshanks, Greenshanks, Dunlin, Shell Ducks, Curlews, Oystercatchers, Herons, Egrets, Shags and Cormorants. Other migratory birds are also spotted around the estuary, particularly from August September.

The top deck of the Rivermaid makes an excellent vantage point.

Seals are also sometimes sighted in the shallow waters near Kingsbridge and the creeks.
